Indie studio Sloclap is releasing a new third-person melee-focused combat game on 29-Aug.
Following the fall of a empire you awaken with limited memory. As you explore the world, punch and kick stuff, you gain skills and remember what happened.
The only in-game constructs supporting socialization is the mentoring system, where I follow you around fight your fights using your skills, and the flup side you can mentor disciples to do the same. The game appears to be MMOish but that's TBD. No hints of in-game organizations...outside of mentorships.
The combat system appears really fluid - in fact the trailers say fluid and flow multiple times. The system is focused upon your "combat style", your "stance", and your deck; there are multiple styles emphasizing dodge, countering, resilience, TBD...; four stances which are relative to where your victim is; and several "decks" which are the specific attacks or moves. FYI This appears to be more console than PC focused for the trailer was from the perspective of a PlayStation.
There Steam description references opportunities for PVP in an arena as well as PVE among the ruins of the empire. Both yield loot.
Sound off if you're interested.
